Meter Technician I: $28.80 – 36.76/hourly
Meter Technician II
: $31.74 – 40.52/hourly
- 100% employee premiums paid for all health benefits
- Annual Merit Increases. Full‑time employees are eligible for 5% merit increases on an annual basis until they reach the top of their pay range.

- Deferred Compensation. Up to $3,500 matching on 457 plans
- 24 annual days of accrued leave (Increases to 29 after 5 years of service, max 37 annual days of accrued leave)

As our full‑time Meter Technician
, you will play a hands‑on role in keeping our community’s water flowing accurately and reliably! In this position, you’ll be at the heart of our ongoing water meter replacement program—installing, inspecting, testing, and upgrading ¾‑inch to 2‑inch meters to ensure top performance.
Your day might include refreshing and resetting meter boxes, relocating meters to safer locations, performing minor repairs, and helping troubleshoot issues in the field. You’ll also connect directly with customers—answering questions about water pressure, leaks, and service interruptions with professionalism and care—while helping build positive community relationships.
From conducting meter testing in line with industry standards and reading residential, commercial, and industrial meters, to maintaining accurate electronic records and coordinating safe work practices, your work will combine technical skill, problem‑solving, and customer service.

Qualified candidates will have training and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school or GED equivalent and a minimum of one year of experience in maintenance, mechanical, or technical related field.
A valid Class C California driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability under the district’s vehicle insurance policy is required.
This position requires passing the State of California Water Resources Control Board Water Distribution Operator Certificate, Grade 2 (D2) test and obtaining certification within two years from the date of hire as a meter technician I. Failure to obtain the required certification within the prescribed timeframe will result in a transfer to another vacant position in a different job classification for which they are selected or termination of employment from the district.
Certification must be maintained while in this job classification.
