Hourly Rates- Public Works Maintenance Worker I (PWMW-I): $24.26 - $29.49
- Public Works Maintenance Worker II (PWMW-II): $26.76 - $32.52
The Opportunity:
The ideal candidate is a dependable, motivated team player with an ability to perform the full range of public works maintenance, construction, and improvement duties. This position may rotate between Streets, Flood, Sewer, or Traffic assignments and requires outdoor physical activity. Schedule
This position works a 4 day/10 hour week, allowing for 3-day weekends every week.
Job TrainingThe City helps this position obtain a CDL (Class
A) during employment and offers Tuition Reimbursement of $1,500 per year.
The PWMW-I position can promote to PWMW-II, Equipment Operator, and Public Works Crew Leader (based on demonstrated qualifications & performance).

Recruitment TimelineThe most highly qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the in-person examination process (this includes both a Qualifications Appraisal Interview and Practical Exam). Candidates participating in the examination process will self-schedule for only ONE of the two dates below.
Examination Dates- Day 1:
Tuesday, August 25, 2026 - Day 2:
Wednesday, August 26, 2026
Successful candidates will be placed on the eligible list for employment consideration for at least six months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future vacancies throughout all divisions.
EducationEducational achievement equivalent to high school diploma or equivalency.
ExperiencePublic Works Maintenance Worker I:
Experience in public works construction, maintenance, landscaping, and improvements (preferred).
Public Works Maintenance Worker II:
At least one year of experience in public works construction, maintenance, landscaping, and improvements.
Public Works Maintenance Worker I:
Possession of a valid Class C California driver's license, with a safe driving record, at time of appointment.
Public Works Maintenance Worker II:
Possession of a valid Class B California driver's license, with a safe driving record, at time of appointment.
