Are you a diesel expert who thrives on diagnosing the root cause, following precise procedures, and owning the outcome? We're looking for a mid-level to journey level technician with a strong background in marine diesel propulsion systems, ideally including MTU or similar engines. If you're motivated by solving technical problems in the field, value structure and accountability, and want your skills to make a measurable impact, this is your next career move.

Join a high-performance team where results, not noise, are rewarded.

As a Marine Engine Systems Technician, you'll lead inspections, overhauls, diagnostics, and service work for large-bore marine diesel engines across vessels, shipyards, and customer sites. You'll work independently with minimal oversight, using advanced tools like MTU Dia Sys to verify and adjust system performance. The ideal candidate is confident, process-driven, and understands how to balance speed with precision. You'll also support sea trials, mentor apprentices, and ensure every service record reflects your commitment to quality and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair large-bore marine diesel engines and propulsion systems
  • Perform MTU dyno acceptance testing and adjust engines to factory specifications
  • Conduct field service work on vessels, shipyards, and at customer facilities
  • Maintain detailed documentation of diagnostics, parts, service history, and reports
  • Represent the company on-site with professionalism and clear technical communication
  • Maintain an organized company vehicle and personal tool set
  • Mentor apprentices and uphold safety and quality standards in all tasks
  • Complete manufacturer training and certifications (online and in person)

Required Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical training or diesel certification preferred
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with diesel engines
  • Proficient with diagnostic software, engine electronics, and multimeters
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card or the ability to obtain one in the future
  • Applicants with experience limited to automotive or light-duty engines (cars, pickups, etc.) will not be considered this role requires experience with heavy-duty diesel or marine propulsion systems

Desired

Skills:

  • Experience with marine field service or shipyard support
  • Experience with CAT, Cummins, MAN, or MTU Dia Sys marine engines
  • Familiarity with EPA Tier engine regulations and OEM standards
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed schematics, manuals, and service bulletins
  • Comfortable working independently in variable environments, including confined spaces
