Home of Guiding Hands is looking for CLP/TDSO Community Support Professionals to work one-on-one with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

New to CLP or TDSO? That's okay!

Our Community Living Program (CLP) and Tailored Day Services Option (TDSO) provide individualized support to adults with disabilities. Depending on the program and the needs of the person you're working with, you'll help individuals build life skills, work toward personal goals, participate in their community, and become more independent.

This isn't a traditional office job. You'll spend your time working directly with individuals in their homes and throughout the community.

A typical day may include:

• Exploring the zoo or other local attractions
• Attending a college course
• Going to an exercise class
• Volunteering at a local organization
• Participating in an art class or community activity
• Practicing everyday life and independence skills
• Helping someone work toward their personal goals
• Building social skills and forming new relationships

The goal is to help each person participate in activities that are meaningful to them while building greater independence and confidence. The TDSO job description specifically includes community activities, college courses, exercise classes, volunteering, and art programs as examples of the support provided.

As a Community Support Professional, you'll provide individualized support based on each person's goals and needs. Responsibilities may include:

• Plan and conduct visits with assigned clients
• Help individuals access and participate in their community
• Support clients in working toward their Individual Service Plan (ISP) goals
• Work with clients to develop meaningful personal goals
• Advocate for the individuals you support
• Attend and participate in ISP meetings
• Communicate with family members and other members of the individual's support team
• Complete required documentation and reports
• Encourage independence, choice, and community involvement

The TDSO position also includes developing goals with clients, preparing ISP reports, attending ISP meetings, coordinating with the individual's support team, and maintaining required documentation.

You don't need years of professional experience to make a difference in this role. We're looking for people who are dependable, patient, encouraging, and genuinely enjoy helping others.

Qualifications include:

• High school diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Experience supporting individuals with special needs is preferred, but not required
• Personal, volunteer, or paid experience is welcome
• Ability to pass a DOJ background check
• Valid California driver's license with a safe driving record and at least two years of driving experience
• Safe and reliable vehicle for transporting clients
• Current auto insurance
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it. Training is available for new hires.
• Comfortable using email, text messaging, websites, and apps
• Able to work independently and manage your schedule
• Reliable with good judgment and communication skills
