As a Heavy Duty-Class "A" Tow Truck Operator, you play a crucial role in the towing and transport industry, responsible for safely and efficiently recovering, transporting, and delivering heavy vehicles and equipment. You'll operate specialized tow trucks and use various techniques to assist disabled or damaged vehicles in different and often tough situations. Quick thinking and sound judgment are key to providing effective solutions under time constraints.
Key Responsibilities- Operate heavy-duty Class "A" tow trucks to skillfully recover and transport vehicles and equipment while minimizing additional damage.
- Evaluate vehicle conditions to choose the best towing or recovery method, ensuring safety and maintaining quality service.
- Perform regular checks and minor repairs on tow trucks and related equipment to ensure they are always ready for use.
- Communicate clearly with dispatchers, customers, and team members to ensure timely service and coordination.
- Follow all safety guidelines, traffic laws, and company policies while handling vehicles and equipment.
- Experience in operating heavy-duty tow equipment with strong mechanical skills for diagnosing and fixing minor issues.
- Ability to use basic hand tools and experience with modern GPS and communication devices to enhance service efficiency.
- Strong problem-solving skills, allowing for independent work under pressure and in unexpected situations.
- A dedication to high standards of professionalism, safety, and excellent customer service.
- Valid Class "A" commercial driver's license (CDL) with essential endorsements.
- Experience operating heavy-duty tow trucks or similar equipment.
- Willingness to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed for emergency towing and recovery.
- Strong commitment to safety and extensive knowledge of transport regulations.
- Training is available for qualified Class "A" candidates seeking to expand their towing skills.
- Certification in heavy-duty towing or recovery operations is a plus.
- Experience with specialized towing equipment enhances effectiveness and service.
