Position: School Bus Driver ***$7,500 hiring bonus!!!***

$7,500 HIRING BONUS!
* For fully licensed California School Bus Drivers* $2,500 upon passing probation, $2,500 at the end of year 1, $2,500 at the end of year 2 Under the supervision of the Transportation Operations Supervisor, drive a school bus to transport students safely and efficiently to an assigned location on a designated route; drive a special needs vehicle and provide safe and secure transportation for students with physical, medical, educational and emotional needs;

load, unload and secure special needs students; perform regular safety inspections.

Requirements / Qualifications

You're an excellent candidate for our School Bus driver position, if you have a passion for working with children, enjoy working in a team, and you possess the following qualifications and competencies:

  • ability to drive a school bus safety and efficiently
  • knowledge of applicable traffic and student transportation laws, codes and regulations
  • maintain a safe discipline level among passengers.
  • maintain routine records
  • establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

These documents MUST be attached to the online application to be considered:

  • DMV driving record (in order to request your official DMV record, please ask DMV for form INF
    1125)
  • A valid California Class A or B driver's license with appropriate passenger endorsement and air brake endorsement.
  • A valid Medical Examiner's certificate (MEC)
  • Must pass a California Highway Patrol First Aid Test or an Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) approved First Aide course.
  • Valid CPR/First Aide certification.
  • Valid California Special Driver certificate for School Bus issue by CHP (DMV DL-45)

The district is 66.3 square miles in size, and serves elementary students in grades K-8 feeding into the Grossmont Union High School District. The district has approximately 16,600 students, plus approximately 800 preschool students, with 26 schools (6 middle schools, 19 elementary schools and 1 preschool).

The District is largely urban in nature with some rural areas. Regardless of what our employees’ needs are, we meet them with the personalized attention only a caring school district can provide.
