The job of Supervisor, Transportation is done for the purpose of overseeing the day-to-day operations of student, special education and commercial transportation services; providing in-service training; and supervising assigned personnel. This job reports to Director, Transportation
Essential Functions:
- Collaborates with site administrators, students, law enforcement representatives, community members, etc. for the purpose of ensuring full communication in order to meet diverse needs and resolve student transportation matters.
- Compiles data from a wide variety of sources (e.g. investigating complaints, transportation budget/expenditures, payroll, etc.) for the purpose of analyzing issues, ensuring compliance with various policies and procedures, and/or monitoring program components.
- Conducts training and safety programs for bus drivers and bus attendants for the purpose of ensuring standard proficiency in the delivery of transportation services.
- Coordinates department activities (e.g. training, schedules, bus routing and dispatching, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining safe and effective department operations and compliance with District, state and federal regulations.
- Directs the implementation of existing and new programs/services (e.g. designing appropriate bus routes, bus schedules, bus driver safety standards, preventive maintenance program, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring programs and services are provided within established time frames in conformance with all related requirements.
- Maintains a variety of manual and electronic records and/or files (e.g. department manuals, handbooks, reports, investigations, schedules, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing reliable information, and complying with district, state and federal requirements.
- Monitors and supervises busing operations and activities (e.g. provide direction, instruction and corrective suggestions, etc.) for the purpose of providing advice and guidance to staff in order to improve operations.
- Participates in meetings (e.g. staff meetings, IEP meetings, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and gathering information regarding a wide variety of subjects required to carry out administrative responsibilities.
- Performs personnel administrative functions (e.g. recruiting, interviewing, recommending, training, supervising, evaluating, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining necessary staffing, enhancing productivity of staff, and ensuring necessary department/program outcomes are achieved.
- Plans bus routes/schedules and the assignments of routes to drivers and buses for the purpose of meeting student transportation requirements.
- Prepares written materials (e.g. reports, memos, investigations, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written support and/or conveying information.
- Researches a variety of information (e.g. new bus routes, bus schedules, new equipment/materials, bus policies, etc.) for the purpose of developing new programs/services, ensuring compliance with relevant requirements, securing general information for planning, taking appropriate actions, and/or responding to requests.
- Responds to a variety of inquiries for the purpose of identifying the relevant issues and recommending or implementing a plan of action that will efficiently resolve the issue.
- Supports assigned administrator for the purpose of collaborating with administrator in the achievement of department, program and district goals.
Other Functions:
Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.

Minimum Qualifications
Skills are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including utilizing pertinent software applications; planning and managing projects; budgeting and financial management; and developing effective working relationships.
Knowledge is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
