Role Overview
Mechanics Bank is seeking a full‑time Customer Service Representative at our El Cerrito Branch to perform banking transactions and provide high‑level customer service.
Responsibilities- Perform routine teller transactions (deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, payments, transfers, mail or night drop transactions) with accuracy.
- Assist customers with account reconciliations, statement copies, check orders, account closures, address changes, stop payments, debit card maintenance, and safe deposit box entrances.
- Provide exemplary customer service in person and over the phone, represent the bank courteously, and identify additional customer needs for product referrals.
- Educate customers on banking technology such as mobile and online banking.
- Maintain and balance cash supply; review transactions for red flags and potential fraud; stay aware of criminal scams.
- Follow cash handling policies, balance cash at shift end, and adhere to all security procedures.
- Assist with branch opening and closing, complying with security procedures.
- Gather data and process compliance reports (Currency Transaction Reports, Reg CC, etc.) to support BSA/AML compliance.
- Assist branch audit functions and complete required compliance by assigned due dates.
- 0-10% travel may be required.
- High School Diploma or GED required; additional experience may substitute for degree.
- Minimum one year banking experience with basic knowledge of deposit products preferred.
- Minimum one year customer service and cash handling experience in a customer‑facing role required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with team members.
- Ability to make decisions using available information.
- Basic knowledge of bank deposit products and services; ability to understand customer loan requests and make appropriate referrals.
- Knowledge of applicable bank policies and procedures.
Physical demands include sitting, talking, using hands, occasionally standing, walking, and lifting up to 10 pounds. Vision requirement: close vision. Noise level is moderate.
Pay and CompensationPay Range: $20.00 – $23.00 per hour. Eligible for Retail Incentive Plan.
