Job DescriptionJob Title: Teacher – Secondary
Qualifications: As set by state certification authorities
Reports to: Principal
Supervises: Teacher Aide and Volunteers
Job Goal: To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, social and psychological growth.
Performance Responsibilities- Prepares for, meets, and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated.
- Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Evaluates student progress on a regular basis and communicates that progress to the students and the parents.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and the Board policy.
- Attends and participates in professional, in-service, and faculty meetings.
- Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Accepts a share of responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
- Provides for his own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced coursework at instructions of higher learning.
- Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aides and/or lab assistants.
Terms of Employment: Salary and work year as determined by the Board of Education.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
