Title:

Teacher - Secondary

Qualifications:

Reports To:

Principal

Supervises:
Teacher Aide and Volunteers

Job Goal:
To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, social and psychological growth.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Prepares for, meets, and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Develops and maintains a classroom environment conductive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Evaluates student progress on a regular basis and communicates that progress to the students and the parents.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and the Board policy.
  • Attends and participates in professional, in-service, and faculty meetings.
  • Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Accepts a share of responsibility for extra curricular activities as assigned.
  • Provides for his own professional growth through an on-going program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at instructions of higher learning.
  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aides and/or lab assistants.
  • Terms of Employment:
    Salary and work year as determined by the Board of Education.

    Evaluation:
    Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
