Role SummaryThe Process Control Engineer will work as part of our Process Control team that supports the Refinery’s process control programs and systems in direct support of refinery operations. This role is responsible for implementing standard and complex process control solutions to successful completion while focusing on continuous improvement of customer satisfaction, quality and safety performance. The position is also responsible for implementing overall control system strategy within the refinery as part of a team and assist in developing, implementing, testing and maintaining innovative technical solutions.
This role works in conjunction with process stakeholders to evaluate process operating performance, implements ideas for optimization, and champions projects in support of long term sustainable profitability and performance. The Process Control Engineer will interface closely with process engineering, operations, reliability, project engineering and maintenance and is responsible for executing work safely to the standards and procedures by the industry, company and refinery.
Accountabilities
- The position requires a strong team player, someone who is self-motivating with a positive “can do” attitude.
- Specific duties include design and implementation of process control configurations, tuning control loops, troubleshooting control opportunities and related process control engineer/specialist functions in the DCS and in safety instrumented systems.
- Abilities to multi-tasks and communicate technical concepts and solutions effectively and at a high level.
- Knowledge of Networking, virtualization and MS security is a plus. Knowledge of instrumentation installation, specification sheets, calibration, calculations and configuration
Champion projects, and programs that support refinery vision. - Ensure process safety, safety, and environmental compliance by supporting process hazard analysis, incident investigations, procedure development, management of change, alarm management, pressure protection management, and providing technical assistance for work scope development, assessment of process impacts on equipment, and environmental reviews
- Provide process control technical assistance to process operations for solving operating problems, optimizing, and improving production planning
- Support turnaround and unit shutdown planning and execution through participation in scope development, providing justification for work items, and providing technical support outage timeframe
- Support capital project development, define project scopes, complete project estimates, and support design and construction
- Review projects for technical accuracy and clarity and deliver presentations as required to support project updates, justification, and explanation
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering or related technical field or equivalent specific process control specialist experience in a plant environment
- Three (3) or more years of experience in engineering or process control systems working in a chemical or refining plant environment
