Summary
The Electrical Reliability Engineer will provide day-to-day technical expertise and reliability support for the power distribution and major electrical equipment at the site. The successful candidate will join an integrated team, including process chemical, mechanical, and other Engineers. The responsibilities of the position include solution of electrical reliability problems, identifying and implementing electrical equipment improvements, and leading teams and/or projects for longer-term improvements and utility cost-savings initiatives.
Responsibilities- Providing electrical engineering expertise for the major electrical equipment at the site.
- Troubleshooting major electrical issues & providing technical support to the operations & maintenance teams as required.
- Leading or participating on teams to upgrade electrical equipment ranging from incremental improvements to major technology changes.
- Executing the change management processes to execute improvements in equipment and control (Process change requests, Change of design, etc.).
- Ensure / support that adequate process related equipment maintenance systems and programs are in place and that such programs are operated in a safe and efficient manner and meet or exceed all regulatory requirements.
- Lead or take part in cross-functional teams, e.g. Reliability Centered Maintenance, Root Cause Analysis and Six Sigma Teams, Investigations, or Equipment Improvement Teams.
- Develop and manage reliability program for electrical equipment, including specific work procedures, preventative and predictive maintenance programs
- Support, develop and implement strategies for improving instrumentation and process monitoring equipment reliability.
- Analyze and drive utility usage & cost savings programs.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical/Electrical discipline preferred) or relevant experience.
10 years of relevant experience in maintenance, engineering, reliability, and controls systems preferred.
Required skills and competencies:
Communication, interpersonal relationships, facilitation, influencing. Must be able to develop others and foster relationships with site-based personnel, including Plant Managers, Maintenance Managers, Operations Managers, Engineers, and Maintenance Technicians.
While performing the duties of his job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, and in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee must be able to wear and operate in all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which includes hard hats, ear plugs, safety glasses, goggles, fall protection harnesses, chemical exposure suits, and respirators.
The employee may occasionally work near chemical processes with toxic or caustic chemicals, airborne particles, fumes, extreme heat, extreme cold, vibration, and electrical hazards.
