Position: TELE006 Monitor Tech PRN

Overview

The Monitor Technician (MT) is responsible for assisting in care of patients under the direction of an RN or LPN. The monitor technician performs duties including observing and monitoring heart rhythms and rates, informing the nursing staff of any change in patients' status.

Qualifications
  • Education
    :
    Must possess high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Licenses/Certificate
    :
    Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Complete the basic arrhythmia course.
Essential Job Functions

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following Essential Duties satisfactorily.   • Uphold and demonstrate “We Care” values in everyday activities and behavior.
  • Demonstrate how to set up, monitor and modify the central station.
  • Demonstrate how to run initial strip rhythms, every shift, PRN and document as scheduled.
  • Complete and pass the basic dysrhythmia class and test with minimum of 80%.
  • Demonstrate the ability to notify the nursing staff of any changes and follow the escalation policy.
  • Demonstrate ability to follow direction and perform work according to department standards under the supervision of nursing staff.
  • Observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired regarding personal, financial, medical or employment of patients, families, and employees of SARH.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate all aspects of patient care with nursing staff.
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow all safety practices for patients at SARH and report hazards while initiating appropriate action.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and Department indicators.
  • Other duties as assigned.
