Position: RAD0016 FT Rad Techno I

Overview

Under the direction of a Radiologist, performs radiographic procedures at appropriate technical level. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgement, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required, including specialized areas such as Mammography, CT, MRI, Cath and Interventional Radiology.

Recognizes the purpose of employment is to prioritize the patient as number one, and to put forth the utmost quality as a Technologist.

Qualifications/Experience

Education: Possess a diploma from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.

Experience: Desirable characteristics include at least two years of experience in a hospital or medically related environment. Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given. Must be emotionally mature and able to function under stress.

Licenses/Certificate: ARRT Certification in Radiologic Technology, current State Licensure. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Correctly transfers and properly positions patients for examinations in order to obtain desired radiographic results according to physician specifications 98% of the time.

Provides immobilization as required and protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards 100% of the time.

Selects and operates equipment, selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis 100% of the time.

Selects and loads proper film cassettes, using film markers correctly 99.5% of the time.

Has film developed either by darkroom personnel or self, as required.

Correctly assists physicians in performance of examinations by mixing and pouring contrast media, administering opaque media, holding and turning patients, assisting in sterile procedures, and other related duties as required 99% of the time.

Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness, including provision for the contamination-free condition of rooms, equipment and personnel 99% of the time.

Secures and returns supplies. Maintains room stock 95% of the time.

Reports equipment failure to supervisor using proper forms and maintaining appropriate records 98% of the time.

Serves on specific committees dealing with the use of sonar and radiation as requested.

May be required to assist in the development of technical factors and film selection.

Efficiently performs a variety of related clerical tasks as necessary 98% of the time.

Rotates within the department, works various shifts as required 100% of the time.

Handles equipment in a responsible, professional manner 100% of the time.

Maintains patient records 100% of the time.

Monitors film quality 99.5% of the time.

Assists Department Director with Performance Improvement.
