Operator/Mechanic – Thermal & Specialized Solutions
Join Chemours in eliminating hazardous chemicals and shaping markets through chemistry. This role reports directly to the Production Front Line Supervisor in ElDorado, AR. The primary responsibility is to monitor and operate equipment and facilities while ensuring quality and conformance with standard operating procedures. The Operator/Mechanic performs minor maintenance, maintains safety standards, and initiates emergency procedures as required. The position is part of a high‑hazard operation and works a rotating 12‑hour shift, rotating through various roles within the area, including control‑room rotation.
Responsibilities- Load, ship, and receive finished, raw, or intermediate materials.
- Perform sequences of operations required to operate or support chemical processes.
- Participate in and accept all safety, environmental, and health responsibilities.
- Achieve and maintain production targets, quality standards, and equipment within the work environment.
- Safely work with pressure, temperature, level and flow in pipe systems and use pressure gauge for leak testing.
- Safely handle hazardous and non‑hazardous materials and wastes in compliance with plant requirements and environmental regulations.
- Operate various equipment and roles within the department, including control‑room duties.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- 0–3 years of related work experience.
- Willingness and ability to work a rotating shift schedule.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime, including holidays, weekends, and short‑notice call‑ins.
- Willingness and ability to wear required PPE (steel toes, hard hat, protective eyewear, face shields, arc protective clothing, SCBA).
- Willingness and ability to work in a high‑hazard process.
- Willingness and ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, ladders, columns, stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl, reach overhead, hear and respond to alarms, and possess visual acuity for close work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.) and ability to learn new computer systems.
- Two‑year Certificate/Associate Degree in Process Technology, or Three (3) years of Chemical/Petrochemical Operator experience, orFive (5) years of chemical packing experience.
- Experience reading and interpreting schematics, procedures, manufacturers’ literature, safety requirements, general instructions, and detecting process deviations.
- Experience performing job‑safety analysis and equipment lockout safety procedures.
- Experience with SAP or equivalent manufacturing operations software.
- Experience driving lean manufacturing principles and implementing production systems.
