This dual‑role position supports Longhorn Pipeline operations and maintenance by performing Technician and Damage Prevention duties at the Cartman Station Area near Eldorado, Texas.
The Technician is responsible for operational, technical, electrical, and mechanical support for all facility equipment. The incumbent will also perform damage prevention duties, including line locating, one calls, and line crossings.
Location:
Cartman Station Area near Eldorado, TX. Must live within 1 hour of Eldorado, TX (acceptable locations include San Angelo, Sonora, and Menard).
- Provide technical support for assigned location(s) primarily involving the transportation of crude oil, refined products, and/or natural gas liquids.
- Maintain a working knowledge of company policies and procedures including SIP and OQ requirements and implement them into location work practices; attend required safety training.
- Perform routine testing, inspection, and maintenance of mainline and facility equipment/systems (pumps, electric motors, instrumentation, PLCs, meters, valves, etc.).
- Complete and maintain required documentation/records for maintenance and repair activities.
- Manage location projects, including major overhauls, troubleshooting for pumps and mechanical seals, new installations, or modifications of existing equipment.
- Perform damage prevention operator duties, including line locating, one calls, and line crossings.
- Perform operations duties including pipeline pigging, strainer replacements, and maintenance and inspections of mainline valves.
- Perform other functions as requested by the Supervisor of Operations.
- High school diploma required
- Experience with manual/power tools, electronic testing devices, and control devices.
- Experience with gas processing fundamentals, computers and related software.
- Experience and training related to governmental rules, regulations, and (electric) codes; company policies and procedures including safe handling practices for flammable gases, liquids, and high pressure systems.
- Experience with reliability‑based programs.
- Experience reading and interpreting repair orders, mechanical drawings, procedures, charts, diagrams, dials, gauges, and equipment manuals.
- Experience preparing, processing, or verifying maintenance and repair records, safety and environmental reports, electrical schematics and diagrams, pressure readings, and material and supply orders.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of reciprocating or gas turbine engines, compressors, and electronic and processing equipment applicable to the position.
- Knowledge of instrumentation, electronics, tools, and control systems.
- Ability to apply basic arithmetic operations.
- Ability to communicate written and verbal information and instructions.

- Heavy work:
Exerting 50–100 pounds occasionally, 25–50 pounds frequently, and 10–20 pounds constantly to move objects. - Employee may be assigned a company vehicle requiring a driver’s license.
