DescriptionThe Driver Operator is responsible for safely operating heavy trucks and specialized equipment, ensuring cargo is loaded and unloaded correctly, completing required paperwork, and performing thorough inspections. The role demands physical stamina, precise communication with dispatch and customers, and meticulous vehicle maintenance.
Responsibilities- Operate commercial vehicles safely and efficiently, following traffic laws and regulations, and adhering to hours‑of‑service requirements.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring it is properly secured, and manage paperwork related to shipments.
- Collect delivery instructions from dispatcher, verify routes, and ensure accurate trip logs are maintained.
- Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, report maintenance issues, and perform routine maintenance tasks.
- Communicate with dispatchers and customers, maintaining accurate records and documenting deliveries.
- Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Transport non‑hazardous and hazardous materials in accordance with DOT and company safety procedures.
- Perform industrial work and biohazard cleanups, assisting in removal of soil, debris, and spill site cleanup.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- CDL Class A License
- Hazmat Endorsement
- Tanker Endorsement
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematics.
- Required to talk and hear regularly.
- Must stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb; lift or move items up to 60 lbs.
- Must frequently climb stairs and ladders; may occasionally work at heights.
- Must wear personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection, when working around hazardous waste and be clean‑shaven to ensure respirator seal.
- Work may involve confined spaces and a mix of office and on‑site duties.
