Job Duties

Butler Community College invites applications for a Substitute Journalism Instructor. This position provides temporary instructional support for journalism and mass communications courses as needed and is responsible for delivering classroom and/or laboratory instruction in performance-based reporting, multimedia journalism, newspaper and magazine production, and general media courses.
The Substitute Journalism Instructor supports student learning through effective instruction and assessment aligned with existing syllabi and course materials; assists with student media activities, including advising and supporting student publications when applicable; utilizes media equipment and software for content acquisition, editing, layout, and distribution across print, broadcast, and digital platforms; maintains a professional, inclusive, and engaging learning environment; and communicates effectively with department leadership while adhering to all college policies and procedures.
Campus Locations El Dorado Nature of Position Faculty Full Time (length of contract):

Qualifications

Qualifications
Required knowledge and skills
Must be skilled in a variety of instructional techniques and technologies, with a demonstrated commitment to student engagement and learning outcomes.
Required experience
Three or more years of experience teaching mass communications at the collegiate level and/or three or more years of experience reporting (print/electronic).
Required educational background
Master's degree in Mass Communications, or related, with at least 18 hours within discipline.
