Job Duties
Responsible for instruction of literacy, adult basic education, college readiness, and GED preparation at various outreach locations such as the Butler Service Center, Wichita, and Butler Andover campus. In addition to basic skills instruction, additional content such as basic technology, work readiness, and Accuplacer preparation will be taught as needed.
Act as liaison between outreach locations, staff, and Butler of El Dorado Center to effectively provide Adult Education services. Hold accountability for students acquiring the state average in educational gains plus the four primary goals set by the National Reporting System.
Work with the director, data entry staff, and instructional staff to develop curriculum, administer assessments, conduct follow‑up, and maintain records required for effective delivery of program services. May be asked to substitute for other instructors occasionally. Perform routine office procedures as needed. Participate in professional development activities for Kansas Board of Regents trainings. Position requires evening and weekend availability; potential for some daytime hours.
Grant funded.
Schedule:
Andover 4–8 pm Tuesday and Thursday;
Wichita 12:30–3:30 pm Tuesday and Friday.
Multiple sites across Wichita and surrounding areas.
Nature of PositionPart‑time; 10–15 hours per week. Must be available for evening classes and weekends.
Hourly Rate of PayStarting at $19.00 per hour, with credit for education and experience.

QualificationsThe applicant may be requested to authorize the College to procure a consumer report(s) for employment purposes. The College is unable to sponsor employment visas or consider individuals on time‑limited visa status.
Required knowledge and skills:
Thorough knowledge of subject matter and competency‑based instruction; basic computer skills; human relations skills; flexibility in modifying workload and schedule; competency in teaching developmental, Pre‑GED, GED, technology, pre‑employment, and advanced transitional skills; ability to create individualized study plans based on special needs.
Required experience:
Previous teaching experience with adults ages 16 and over; experience with competency‑based instructional methods; developmental education experience preferred.
Required educational background: B.A. or B.S. in Secondary Education, Elementary Education, Special Education, or a related field.
