Adult Ed Instructor (part-time)

Responsible for adult basic education, ESL , and literacy instruction, Integrated Education and Training instruction, and college readiness at Butler Community College and other outreach and employer locations.

Other content such as basic technology, work readiness, and placement test preparation instruction to be taught as needed. The instructor will act as the liaison between the outreach location staff and Butler of El Dorado staff to effectively and efficiently provide WIOA Title II services as required by the Adult and Family Literacy Act ( AEFLA ) and the Kansas Board of Regents ( KBOR ).

This position has some flexibility with hours to be worked; however, all are in-person hours (no remote work). This position will work as a team with the director, data entry person and other instructional staff to deliver curriculum, administer appropriate assessment(s), conduct follow-up, and to maintain and update records required for effective and efficient delivery of program services. Instructor may be asked to occasionally substitute for other instructors and perform routine office procedures as needed.

Program standards require the employee to actively participate in professional development activities for the Kansas Board of Regents.
This is a continuing long-term grant-funded position.

Part Time; # hours per week - 28

Commensurate with education and experience.

Required knowledge and skills

• A. Thorough knowledge of subject matter.
• B. Thorough knowledge of competency-based instruction.
• C. Basic computer skills.
• D. Human relations skills.
• E. Flexibility in modifying workload and schedule to meet peek demands
• F. Competency in teaching developmental, Pre- GED , GED , technology, pre-employment, and advanced transitional skills.
• G. Ability to create individual study plans based on special needs of students or individual differences and individual goals.
• H. Knowledge of teaching in a correctional setting preferred.

Required experience

• A. Previous teaching experience with adults ages 16 and over.
• B. Experience with competency-based instructional methods.
• C. Developmental education experience preferred.
• D. Experience with individuals in a correctional setting preferred.

Required educational background

Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education, Elementary Education, Special Education, Criminal Justice, Social Work or related field.
