Position: Submerged Arc Seam Welder (Weekend Shift)

Submerged Arc Seam Welder – Individual Contributor

Location:

955 North Haverhill Rd, El Dorado, Kansas 67042‑4806

Shift

Hours:

5:00am – 5:30pm (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) – 36 hours worked, paid for 40 hours. Training

Hours:

5:00am – 3:30pm, Monday–Thursday.

Starting Wage: $26.32 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate flux core sub‑arc seam welding machine to place continuous seamed welds on one or two sides of pole shafts.
  • Fuse metal structural components together using submerged arc welding processes for steel electrical poles and related structures.
  • Plan and layout welding operations from blueprints, shop drawings, or specifications.
  • Determine operation sequences, set up work, and perform welding in a variety of positions.
  • Perform repetitive assembling operations per established procedures; use hand tools and measuring devices.
  • Move pole shafts with overhead crane; gather parts and materials to complete projects.
  • Execute general maintenance of welding equipment, troubleshoot, and make mathematical calculations for setup.
  • Maintain a safe, productive work environment; ensure quality product shipped complete and on time.
  • Follow safety, quality, and productivity standards in a high‑paced environment.
Qualifications
  • Successful completion of an internal welding test.
  • Working knowledge of fixturing and weld‑setup parameters (amps, volts, etc.).
  • Knowledge of welding properties of various metals.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and/or shop drawings.
  • Ability to set up work and determine operation sequence.
  • Basic mathematics: calculate formulas using U.S. and metric measurements.
  • Problem‑solving skills and practical issue resolution.
  • Teamwork skills in a diverse environment.
  • Attention to detail; follow work instructions.
  • Meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high‑paced setting.
  • Lift up to 50lb (most frequent lift up to 20lb); wear required personal protective equipment; follow facility safety regulations.
Highly Qualified Candidates May Also Possess
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited trade school for welding.
  • Three or more years of experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • One or more years of professional welding experience.
  • High awareness of safety; passion, integrity, drive for excellence.
