Position: NDT Inspector - Level II (Weekend Shift)

NDT Inspector – Intermediate

Location:

955 North Haverhill Rd, El Dorado, Kansas

Shift

Hours:

5:00am–5:30pm (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). 36 hours worked per week, paid for 40 hours. Training

Hours:

Monday‑Thursday 5:00am–3:30pm. Starting Wage: $32.36/hr.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate the assembly of fabricated materials by dimensional checks and visual inspection of welds.
  • Conduct nondestructive testing by ultrasonic, magnetic particle, and liquid penetrant processes with LevelII certification knowledge.
  • Coordinate the Quality area to meet production goals and complete daily paperwork.
  • Communicate within the work group to ensure teamwork and maintain a productive work environment.
  • Work with the production supervisor to maintain workflow and report issues.
  • Evaluate examination results and determine if material meets contract specifications.
  • Generate and maintain NDT reports and records for the company and contractors.
  • Make decisions on codes (including AWS D1.1) and specifications.
  • Interpret reports for NDT and quality acceptance.
  • Mentor entry‑level NDT Inspectors, monitor and document OJT progress.
  • Exercise authority to reject material or stop work to minimize financial loss and customer dissatisfaction.
  • Operate under production conditions with accurate performance within set time limits.
  • Maintain essential tools and equipment, including calibration.
  • Participate actively in department safety and demonstrate excellent safety practices.
  • Maintain timely and consistent attendance.
Qualifications
  • LevelII NDT certification or ability to obtain within the agreed time by Valmont.
  • High awareness of safety at all times.
  • Education and Experience:

    High School diploma and 5+ years of experience or Associate’s Degree and 2+ years’ experience or Bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ experience in fabricated steel environment.
  • Basic mathematical calculations (fractions to decimals).
  • Proficiency using measuring tools such as tape measure, calipers, fillet weld gauges, and levels.
  • Ability to operate NDT testing equipment.
  • Effective collaboration with plant employees, supervisors, management, and customers.
  • Work prioritization to meet deadlines.
  • Independent problem solving with minimal assistance.
  • Deliver on‑time results without errors.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess
  • 6 years’ experience in fabricated steel environment.
  • Associate’s Degree in NDT from an accredited school.
  • SNT‑TC‑1A NDT LevelII in UT, VT, MT, and PT.
  • AWS CWI certification.
  • Competence in basic quality assurance disciplines such as dimensional inspection and gauging.
  • A passion and integrity to excel and deliver exceptional results.
Working Conditions & Physical Efforts

Work performed in a manufacturing plant. Requires movement throughout the plant, exposure to dust, heat, fumes, cold, and noise above 80dB. Tasks include lifting up to 50lbs (frequently 20lbs), reaching, standing, walking, sitting, and using hands. Specific vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
