Position: Back Welder (Weekend Shift)

Position Summary

Back Welder 8 – individual contributor. Responsibilities include sub‑arc welding and gas metal arc welding on 1G, 2G, and 2F positions using spray transfer to assemble and repair steel components according to blueprints and work orders.

Hours:

5:00 AM – 5:30 PM (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). 36 hours worked – paid for 40 hours. Training

Hours:

5:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday – Thursday. Starting Wage: $25.54 per hour.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize all safety devices and wear mandatory personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain and operate production tooling, fixtures, and welding equipment in a safe and secure manner.
  • Produce high‑quality welds using GMAW and SAW with low non‑conformity rates.
  • Plan welding operations from blueprints or written specifications, determine sequence, and consistently meet production goals.
  • Conduct longitudinal welding of shaft seams to complete full‑penetration welds.
  • Adjust welding equipment to prescribed settings.
  • Read and complete labor reporting systems, standard shop forms, and blueprints.
  • Perform additional duties as required or assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Pass and obtain Submerged Arc Welding certification in the 1G and 2F positions.
  • Pass and obtain Gas Metal Arc Welding certification in the 2G and 2F positions.
  • Welds must pass UT, requiring a high skill level.
  • Three to five years of hands‑on GMAW and SAW multi‑pass welding experience in a production environment.
  • Five or more years of professional welding experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to read weld symbols, understand blueprints, and perform basic mathematics.
  • Maintain a safe and productive work environment, wearing required personal protective equipment and following facility safety regulations.
  • Consistently meet or exceed production goals without sacrificing safety or quality.
  • Basic computer proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Outlook).
  • Acceptable attendance and prior employment record.
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes (preferred).
  • Accurate tape‑measure use and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Positive communication and interaction with coworkers.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to work instructions.
  • High awareness of safety at all times.
