APPROVED REVISED SUMMARY

To provide an opportunity for near suspension and suspension students, among others, to be successful and reduce suspension days and disruption to the classroom.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee "In School Suspension Office" (ISS).
  • Supervise students in lieu of suspension for non-severe offenses.
  • Supervise time-out students for disruptive behavior.
  • Complete ISS referral forms or discipline referral forms.
  • Indicate preference when students are to return to team working with Assistant Principal.
  • Assist students with requirements for returning to class.
  • Oversee student's work assignments.
  • Monitor students during ISS period to control disruptive noises and student socializing.
  • Keep appropriate records of student attendance and infractions.
  • Develop and implement lunch activities for students during lunch periods.
  • Work closely with teachers, school nurses, guidance counselors, and principals regarding students who are frequently absent or tardy and who have not responded to the corrective efforts made by the building principal.
  • Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors.
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
EXPERIENCE
  • Experience working with middle/high school students.
LICENSING
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).
KNOWLEDGE OF
  • Standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work.
  • Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Reading and interpreting general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals.
  • Occupational hazards and applicable safety principles and practices.
  • Uses and properties of supplies and equipment.
  • Customer service principles.
  • Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment.
  • Modern office technology.
SKILL IN
  • Following directions and meeting standards.
  • Providing attention to detail in assignments.
  • Comprehending reference books and manuals.
  • Organizing and maintaining supplies.
  • Providing customer service.
  • Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications.

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Positions in this class typically require: balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

LIGHT WORK

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move object.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is routinely performed in an indoor classroom environment.
