Summary

To create a flexible high school program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation in accordance with each pupil's ability; to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teaches district-approved curriculum.
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the time designated.
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
  • Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
  • Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors.
  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.
Education/Certification
  • Valid Arizona teaching certificate.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (AZ IVP FPCC) Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP).
Knowledge Of
  • Reading and interpreting general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals.
  • Writing general correspondence and speak effectively with others.
  • Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Principles and practices of program administration.
  • Basic principles and applications of critical thinking and analysis.
  • Best practices, trends and emerging technologies.
  • Principles and techniques of effective oral presentations.
  • Uses and properties of supplies and equipment.

ADA and Other Requirements

Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Working Conditions: Work is routinely performed in an indoor classroom environment.
