Summary: ROTC Army Instructor responsible for the conduct of academic and extracurricular instruction and training of cadets enrolled in ROTC. Responsible to the principal and SAI for accurate completion of all records and reports required by the high school and district.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach ROTC classes which include:
    Citizenship – Ethical Values, Integrity, Responsibility and Respect for Constituted Authority; U.S. Constitution;
    Leadership;
    Federal & Military Justice System Communications – Oral & Written;
    Management – Goal Setting, Time Management;
    Life Skills;
    Substance Abuse Prevention;
    Self-Esteem;
    Teamwork;
    American Military History;
    Educational & Vocational Opportunities.
  • Supervise students in all activities such as Drill & Ceremony, Rifle Team, Color Guard, Honor Guard, Raider Team.
  • Develop special activity lesson plans such as drill & ceremony, marksmanship, color/honor guard, adventure training.
  • Coordinate with feeder schools for pre-enrollment activities.
  • Coordinate guest speakers.
  • Tailor course content to meet student and school district needs.
  • Conduct leadership academy for students/cadets selected for leadership positions.
  • Coach various ROTC varsity athletic teams.
  • Conduct adventure training such as rappelling and orienteering.
  • Coordinate promotion and award ceremonies.
  • Maintain/submit academic and military records and reports to high school and U.S. Army Cadet Command as required.
  • Comply with district policies and procedures concerning the conduct of the ROTC program.
  • Ensure security of school district and Army equipment.
  • Requisition applicable Army publications required for training supply and academic activities.
  • Assume duties as the Department of Defense Service Educational Activity (SEA) Donation Program Donee Representative.
  • Assume duties as U.S. Army Property Book Officer.
  • Assume duties as U.S. Army Military Property Manager.
  • Assume duties as U.S. Army Military Property Custodian.
  • Conduct Spring Leadership Camp chuca, AZ.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the school principal.
  • Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors.
  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.
Education/Certification
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Be certified by U.S. Army Cadet Command to teach Army ROTC.
  • Valid Arizona teaching certificate and meets highly qualified requirements.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).
  • Meet U.S. Army height and weight standards for certification as ROTC Instructor.
Experience
  • Be a retired U.S. Army Non-Commissioned Officer, in the grade of Staff Sergeant (E6) through Command Sergeant Major (E9) or Sergeant Major (E9) drawing full retirement benefits.
Knowledge Of
  • Reading and interpreting general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals.
  • Writing general correspondence and speak effectively with others.
  • Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Principles and practices of program administration.
  • Basic principles and applications of critical thinking and analysis.
  • Best practices, trends and emerging technologies.
  • Principles and techniques of effective oral presentations.
  • Uses and properties of supplies and equipment.
  • Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment.
Skill In
  • Applying reason to research and solving moderately complex issues with little or no assistance.
  • Interpreting an assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms.
  • Performing basic original research to assist with developing teaching plans and instructional materials.
