We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented manufacturing professionals to join our 2nd Shift team as Turret Operators and Laser Operators. We are currently hiring for both positions within our Sheet Metal Department.
As a Turret Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating turret-style machinery, including CNC turret and punch presses, to manufacture precision sheet metal parts according to specifications.
As a Laser Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC laser cutting machines to produce precision metal components according to technical drawings and production requirements.
Both positions require strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, the ability to read blueprints, and a commitment to safety and quality. These are hands-on manufacturing positions in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, productivity, and teamwork are essential.
Turret Operator Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate turret machines, including CNC turret and punch presses, based on production requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
- Select and install appropriate tooling, dies, and attachments for each job.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure accuracy, quality, and efficiency.
- Adjust machine settings as needed to achieve optimal performance.
- Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
- Maintain production records and document completed work.
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and quality control teams to resolve technical issues.
Laser Operator Responsibilities:
- Operate CNC laser cutting machines with precision while following technical drawings and specifications.
- Review cutting programs and select the correct cutting conditions.
- Load the correct raw material into the machine.
- Monitor cutting performance and make appropriate operator-level adjustments as required.
- Perform operator-level maintenance as needed, both daily and as scheduled.
- Maintain proper production and maintenance documentation.
- Remove parts from the tower after cutting is complete.
- Direct part stackers and separators.
- Operate and monitor load/unload tower automation.
- Inspect parts using measuring equipment such as tape measures and calipers.
- Maintain exceptionally clean and organized work areas.
- Assist in other areas of the Metal Prep Department as needed.
- Follow company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills:
- Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and work orders.
- Experience operating CNC, turret, punch press, or laser cutting equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and tape measures.
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and verifying job requirements.
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and manufacturing processes.
- Basic mechanical skills for machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining accuracy and productivity.
- Basic computer skills for production records, data entry, and machine interfaces.
- Knowledge of CNC controls is preferred.
- Experience with Amada Vipros or Pega Punch Presses is a plus.
- Familiarity with CNC programming, G-code, or laser programming is a plus.
