OverviewTRC is seeking a Staff Industrial Hygienist on a part-time/as-needed basis to join our Safety and Industrial Hygiene Services in CA. The position calls for a background in Industrial Hygiene services along with project coordination skills. It involves assisting the team with fieldwork tasks to help meet client goals and project requirements.
Candidates with a Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) or a Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) certifications are preferred.
Candidates with a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification are preferred, but this certification is not required for this role.
This individual may work from varied locations within Los Angeles or Orange County, CA
Responsibilities- Coordination and execution of regulated materials surveys for asbestos-containing materials, lead-containing materials, mold, indoor air quality, PCBs, universal wastes, etc.
- Manage regulated materials abatement oversight and air monitoring services.
- Conduct indoor air quality assessments.
- Oversee sampling strategies measuring airborne concentrations of dust, gases, and mists; uses air sampling instruments and sample collection devices of materials to detect and evaluate employee exposure including determining the effectiveness of engineering and administrative controls.
- Perform and oversee moisture and microbial assessments, including preparation of work plans for remediation efforts.
- Travel to client sites as needed.
- Work with client account managers and account teams to meet client expectations and increase services provided to the client, assisting a variety of industrial operations including power, chemical, food - beverage, aerospace, forest products, rail transportation, oil - gas, retail, etc.
- 2-4+ years of experience in the regulated materials industry, performing indoor air quality assessments, and performing other industrial hygiene activities.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
- Providing environmental services, asbestos, lead, PCBs, mold, indoor air quality, industrial hygiene, safety and hazardous materials experience with a consulting/engineering firm in California.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Adaptability and flexibility to manage various work schedules and situations related to emergency response scenarios.
- Intuitive and creative thinker. Clear understanding of the work surroundings and the services being provided. A consultative demeanor and ability to work with customers / clients and offers solutions when needed.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, physical and motor vehicle records check.
- Valid Driver's License is required.
- Must be able to travel to project sites as needed.
- Must be able to work on roofs, crawl spaces, attics and proper use of hand tools, including using a 6-foot ladder.
