Licensed Therapist – Desert Hot Springs
Discovery Point Retreat is looking for a full‑time Licensed Therapist to join our residential program in Desert Hot Springs. The role will be supervised by the Clinical Director (or appropriate supervisor) and involves providing therapeutic services within an outpatient mental health program.
Job SummaryUnder the supervision and direction of the Clinical Director (or appropriate supervisor), the Licensed Therapist will provide therapeutic services within an outpatient mental health program. This role may be suitable for fully licensed LMFTs, LCSWs, or LPCCs. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, facilitating therapy sessions, creating treatment plans, and engaging in supervision. These clinical hours may count toward licensure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct intake assessments, diagnostic interviews, and comprehensive mental health evaluations.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, adjusting as needed. Provide individual, group, and family therapy using evidence‑based modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, EMDR).
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation, including progress notes, in compliance with HIPAA and California regulations.
- Deliver crisis intervention, mandated reporting (e.g., child or dependent adult abuse), and appropriate referrals.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and social service agencies to support holistic client needs.
- Attend and engage in clinical supervision, training, and staff meetings as required.
- Stay current with therapeutic best practices and licensing standards.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree (or higher) in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, MFT, or a closely related field.
- Active California licensure (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC).
- Comfortable with hourly work and eligible for overtime and wage protections.
- 1–2 years of clinical experience preferred, particularly with diverse client populations. Proficiency in EHR systems and clinical documentation.
- Knowledge of California labor and clinical regulations, including overtime, wage, and meal/rest break laws.
- Strong communication, empathy, and cultural competency, with the ability to work collaboratively and follow structured schedules.
- Experience using EMDR, DBT, or trauma-informed modalities.
- Bilingual skills or experience serving multicultural or underserved populations.
- Experience in community mental health, school-based settings, or similar environments.
- Prior experience with group facilitation, training, or clinical leadership.
Full‑time; exempt.
Shift/ScheduleSchedule as per program needs.
Pay Range$45.00 – $55.00 per hour.
Reasoning Ability- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Valid California LCSW, LMFT or LPCC license required.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, operation and experience with keyboarding. Ability to work with EMR and charting.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Must present a positive working environment.
- Must be able to work with a wide variety of people in a positive manner.
Employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms, may have to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
