We are looking for an Associate Therapist to join our team at our Residential Program in Desert Hot Springs!
Job SummaryUnder the supervision and direction of the Executive Director and/or assigned Clinical Supervisor, the Associate Therapist (AMFT/ACSW/APCC) provides therapeutic services within a detox/residential substance use disorder program. The Associate Therapist conducts biopsychosocial/clinical assessments, supports treatment planning, facilitates individual and group therapy, maintains timely documentation, and participates in weekly clinical supervision. Qualifying clinical hours may count toward licensure in California, consistent with Board of Behavioral Sciences requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct intake assessments, diagnostic interviews, and comprehensive mental health and substance use evaluations under supervision.
- Collaborate with the treatment team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans; complete weekly reviews/updates as required.
- Provide individual and group therapy (and family support as appropriate) using evidence-based modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, trauma‑informed approaches; EMDR exposure may be available depending on training and scope).
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in the EHR (e.g., group notes, case management notes, individual session notes, ASAM‑related notes) in compliance with HIPAA and California regulations.
- Provide crisis intervention; complete mandated reporting and facilitate appropriate referrals/resources to support client needs.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team coordination and communicate with outside agencies/providers as indicated for continuity of care.
- Attend and actively participate in required clinical supervision, trainings, and staff meetings.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of ASAM criteria and levels of care to support clinical recommendations and documentation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned within scope of role and supervision.
- Weekly clinical supervision provided by a qualified supervisor; additional supervision as needed based on caseload and training plan.
- Supervision and work assignments are structured to support development of competencies and accumulation of qualifying hours toward licensure (per BBS requirements).
- Free CEUs/continuing education opportunities provided (internal trainings and/or approved external CEU offerings as available).
- Master’s degree (or higher) in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field.
- Active California Associate registration (AMFT, ACSW, or APCC) in good standing; ability to provide proof of current registration, or 90‑day new graduate with proof application is submitted to the BBS.
- 1–2 years of clinical experience preferred (including practicum/internship), especially with diverse populations and/or substance use treatment settings.
- Ability to maintain timely, high‑quality documentation and navigate EHR systems.
- Strong communication skills, empathy, cultural humility, and ability to work collaboratively on a structured schedule.
- Knowledge of confidentiality requirements (HIPAA) and California mandated reporting laws.
Job Type: Full‑time; exempt
Pay Range: $73,000 - $76,000 annually

Preferred / Plus- Experience with group facilitation in residential or higher level of care settings.
- Training or exposure to DBT, EMDR, or other trauma‑informed modalities.
- Bilingual (Spanish) a preferred not required
- Experience serving multicultural or underserved populations.
- The employee may be required to reach with hands and arms.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
