Position: maintenance asst-Full time

Maintenance Assistant - Full Time (Maintenance)

Ensure adherence to maintenance schedules for respective shifts or areas. Report all accidents or incidents to your supervisor, regardless of severity, on the shift they occur. Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing staff when performing routine tasks in resident areas. Perform other duties as directed by your supervisor, department director, or administrator.

Maintain resident confidentiality by not disclosing protected health information and report any suspected violations immediately. Attend departmental and staff meetings as scheduled or called. Follow assigned tasks and maintenance policies and procedures diligently.

Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, and driveways, including tasks like trimming and sweeping. Conduct repairs on the facility and equipment, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical work, following established procedures. Clean windows, screens, and replace burned-out lights, including exit and overhead lights.

Service heating and cooling systems as specified by manufacturers and policies. Complete unscheduled maintenance tasks as directed. Replenish maintenance supplies in work areas as needed. Ensure the facility and its equipment are well-maintained for resident comfort.

Report equipment malfunctions promptly. Follow safety precautions when performing tasks and using equipment. Assist with lifting heavy objects and ensure equipment is cleaned and stored properly at shift end. Maintain confidentiality of resident information and report any unauthorized disclosures.

Inform residents about moving their personal possessions when necessary. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10th-grade education.
  • Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism.
  • Ability to interact tactfully with staff, residents, families, visitors, and external agencies.
  • Maintain proper use and appearance of supplies and equipment.
  • Willingness to adopt new maintenance methods.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts like fractions, percentages, and ratios.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret various instructions.

Physical Demands:

  • Occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds.
  • Prolonged use of computers.
  • Regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, read, and hear.
  • Assist in resident evacuation during emergencies if needed.

Work Environment:

  • Work typically in a low to moderate noise environment.
  • Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
