Position Summary

The Gill Corporation is seeking a CMM Programmer who is responsible for development of inspection programs, operation of CMM equipment to perform inspections, and interpretation of GD&T requirements as defined by our customers to establish conformance of product.

Responsibilities
  • Develop accurate inspection programs for CMM to inspect parts using PC DMIS/Polyworks software.
  • Set up, program, and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), both traditional in-place and articulated-arm devices.
  • Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to blueprints, model-based definition (MBD) files, and specifications, using measuring instruments such as height gauges, calipers, sine plates, micrometers, CMM, or Faro/Romer arm.
  • Interpret drawings, specifications, and have expertise in GD&T.
  • Apply knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry and their applications.
  • Write test and inspection reports describing results and document discrepant parts on nonconformance tags.
  • Solve problems and troubleshoot by using sound judgment and collaborating with other departments.
  • Train new and existing CMM inspectors in PC DMIS/Polyworks software and CMM inspection techniques.
  • Other essential duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Level 2 CMM certification from Hexagon Meteorology, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience programming/running CMM using PC DMIS/Polyworks.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in mechanical inspection techniques.
  • GD&T certification, or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, work instructions, procedures, and aerospace specifications, and drawings.
  • Excellent communication skills to relay technical data and requirements to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to apply written requirements to a physical part to determine if the part meets the requirements.
  • Organized and pay keen attention to details in application of technical data, drawings and specifications.
  • English reading and verbal communication skills sufficient for company operating procedures and policies.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Math proficiency equal or greater than required for the position.
  • Availability to work the specified shift, and flexibility to possible overtime on weekends and holidays.
  • Acceptable vision test results.
