Position: Nurse in Desert Hot Springs

We are looking for a Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team at our Residential Program in Desert Hot Springs!

Position Summary

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides nursing services within the LVN scope of practice under applicable California regulations (including Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians standards) and facility policies. Reporting to the Executive Director, the LVN delivers patient-centered care to individuals receiving substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, works independently with support and supervision as needed, and maintains clear, timely documentation.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing services within LVN scope of practice in accordance with California regulations and facility policies.
  • Monitor and document clients’ vital signs, symptoms, and clinical status; report significant changes promptly to the appropriate supervisor and medical provider.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments as ordered, following medication administration policies and required supervision/authorization.
  • Support detoxification protocols and monitor for withdrawal symptoms; elevate concerns and emergencies per protocol.
  • Complete required screenings and clinical documentation accurately and timely in the EMR, consistent with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and facility standards.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and utilize ASAM Criteria to support appropriate level‑of‑care coordination and transitions.
  • Run and facilitate client education groups (e.g., medication education, health and wellness, recovery education) as assigned.
  • Educate clients and families on recovery, medications, and healthy lifestyle choices within scope of practice.
  • Respond to medical emergencies promptly and appropriately; initiate CPR/first aid within training and notify emergency services when indicated.
  • Maintain infection control, safety, cleanliness, and a professional work environment; adhere to accreditation and compliance standards.
  • Attend department meetings, treatment meetings, and trainings as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
  • Current and active LVN license in the State of California, in good standing (BVNPT). Demonstrated knowledge of substance use disorders (SUD) treatment, detox support, and ASAM Criteria.
  • 2 years or more of clinical experience.
Language Skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests from diverse backgrounds.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to document care accurately, collaborate with the treatment team, and educate clients effectively.
REASONING ABILITY
  • Ability to assess situation quickly and respond appropriately in a fast‑paced or emotionally charged environment.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to identify guests’ needs and elevate concerns when necessary.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSENES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be eligible for Bella Monte Recovery Center (BMRC) vehicle insurance.
  • Must provide proof of private vehicle insurance.
  • Must have or obtain within six months of hire CPR certification and maintain such.

Skills And Abilities
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, operation and experience with keyboarding. Have the ability to work with EMR and charting.
  • Ability to work independently with support and supervision as needed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to present a positive working environment.
  • Must be able to work with a wide variety of people in a positive manner.
