Overview
Trueline’s client, a growing and detail-driven construction company with a strong presence in the multi-family residential sector, is seeking a Project Accountant to support their team in managing the financial health of complex building projects. This role offers hands-on involvement in every stage of a project’s lifecycle and is ideal for someone who thrives on organization, precision, and teamwork.
Responsibilities- Track budgets, costs, and job performance for active construction projects
- Generate and maintain project-specific financial reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections
- Prepare client invoices, including progress and final billings, and review subcontractor/vendor invoices for accuracy
- Manage contract compliance by tracking change orders, purchase orders, lien waivers, and budget approvals
- Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and field teams to ensure accurate cost data and contract alignment
- Communicate with the corporate accounting team to ensure smooth financial integration
- Monitor payments and ensure timely processing to subcontractors and vendors
- Assist with audits and ensure compliance with internal policies and industry regulations
- Identify areas of cost savings and alert project leaders to potential overruns or risks
- 1 to 5 years of experience in construction accounting, with a focus on multi-family residential projects
- Full understanding of G702/G703 forms, and experience generating Schedule of Values (SOV)
- Proven experience with Textura billing software
- Strong working knowledge of conditional and unconditional lien waivers
- Understanding of certificates of insurance, including coverages and limits
- Familiarity with owner and subcontractor change orders
- Experience attending OAC buy-out meetings and contributing to cost control strategies
- Excellent attention to detail, proactive communication skills, and an organized mindset
- Background in contract administration or construction project coordination
- Prior experience with ERP or job cost accounting platforms
- Familiarity with compliance and audit requirements in a construction setting
