Public Staff Accountant

Job Description

OH Montoya CPAs is seeking a professional, detail‑oriented Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to join our team. This role involves preparing and reviewing a variety of tax returns and financial documents while supporting day‑to‑day accounting functions for both individual and business clients. The ideal candidate is organized, personable, and comfortable working directly with clients in a fast‑paced environment.

• Prepare individual, business, payroll, and sales tax returns
• Perform bookkeeping and general accounting tasks
• Maintain and update financial records accurately and efficiently
• Work with accounting and tax software including:
  • Quick Books
  • Accounting CS
  • Pro Series
  • Sage
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Word
• Communicate directly with clients regarding accounting and tax matters
• Answer telephone calls and assist clients as needed
• Participate in ongoing accounting and tax training
• Ensure accuracy, compliance, and timeliness in all deliverables

• Active CPA license preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or related field (with accounting concentration preferred)
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and tax preparation
• Experience with Quick Books, Accounting CS, Pro Series, Sage, Excel, and Word
• Excellent communication and client service skills
• Bilingual (preferred but not required)
• Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail

• Audits or reviews are not required for this position.
• Must be comfortable working in a client‑facing environment.
• Professional dress and appearance are expected.
