Job Summary
The Customer Relations Specialist, under general supervision, provides clerical, administrative, and cashier support to a specific County office or department, with greater work complexity than the Office Assistant classification.
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of office/customer service experience, including 1 year of cashier experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Valid driver’s license applicable to job responsibilities (applicable by date of hire).
- Personal mobile smart device required to access County network and systems.
- Background investigation clearance.
- Bilingual in Spanish and typing speed of 45 words per minute (depending on area of assignment).
- DCP (Deputy Clerk) deputizing may be required.
- AOP certification may be required.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (County of El Paso).
- Perform administrative and clerical tasks and data entry; process billings and payments; balance receipts with cash and credit cards; process mail.
- Establish and maintain files and records.
- Serve as the initial point of contact for participants, outside agencies, other County departments, and the public regarding inquiries or complaints about a program.
- Research information, make referrals, and resolve customer concerns.
- Ensure proper documentation for processing requests.
- Receive and verify fees, check acceptance, and record transaction details.
- Handle large amounts of money and balance daily cash, checks, and credit‑card transactions.
- Provide customer information on all phases of service.
- Maintain confidentiality and report maintenance needs.
- Train on processes and keep workstations stocked with forms and documents.
- Generate reports as required.
- Notarize and certify documents.
- Conduct criminal searches as required.
- Provide routine information on vehicle registration procedures and related services.
- Process renewal, temporary permits, placards, and other registration applications.
- Verify identification and financial liability; process Vehicle Identification Reports.
- Operate the Registration and Title System terminal.
- Attend required classes and seminars on new laws and rules.
- Maintain compliance with state and internal regulations.
- Apply regulated fees, route documents to courts, conduct inventory, and release dockets.
- Provide inmate account information, balances, and release funds.
- Travel to satellite branches if required and work beyond normal hours when necessary.
- Substitute during temporary absences to maintain operations.
- Commit to excellent customer service and teamwork.
- Promote a high‑quality work culture through training and mentoring.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Maintain a safe and healthy workplace environment.
- Participate in the Emergency Response System and receive relevant training.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of cashiering and bookkeeping practices; customer service and public relations procedures;
English usage; office methods; and filing systems.
Ability to learn organizational procedures, maintain confidentiality, perform calculations, operate a personal computer, conduct mathematical computations, communicate effectively, and work cooperatively with others.
