Legal Assistant
We are seeking a highly organized, dependable, and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support attorneys and paralegal team with administrative and case management tasks. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a professional, deadline-driven environment and enjoys keeping operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage attorney and staff calendars, including scheduling hearings, client meetings, mediations, consultations, and deadlines
- Answer phones and professionally communicate with clients, courts, and opposing counsel
- Assist paralegals and attorneys with administrative case support
- Prepare, scan, organize, and upload legal documents into case management software
- File pleadings and documents with Texas e-filing systems and maintain filing records
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail, document processing, and office correspondence
- Create and maintain organized digital and physical case files
- Assist with client intake and gathering necessary case documentation
- Generate invoices, assist with billing, payment tracking, and client account follow-up
- Coordinate document execution, signatures, and notarization when needed
- Maintain office organization and assist with general administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a law office preferred (family law or litigation experience a plus)
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working with legal software, document management systems, and Microsoft Office
- Experience with e-filing, MyCase, billing software, or case management platforms preferred
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Reliable, proactive, and team-oriented attitude
- Familiarity with Texas court filing procedures
- Scheduling experience for court hearings and legal calendars
- Experience with client communication in high-conflict matters
- Spanish bilingual
Compensation:
- Range is from $15-$18/hour, depending on experience
Position could become full time with the law firm
