Western Power Pool is hiring a Resource Adequacy Analyst to join our team in Portland, OR!

- Pay: $98,000 – $111,250/year DOE

Remote in select states - must reside within the following areas: AZ, OR, WA, UT, NV, CA, WY, MT, , NM, CO, El Paso TX - Schedule:
Full-time, Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm PPT - Benefits:

Who You Are:
You are an energy industry professional who understands how resource adequacy, grid reliability, and market rules come together. You are detail-oriented and analytical, while also collaborative and comfortable working with utilities, program participants, and internal teams. You communicate clearly, manage competing priorities effectively, and approach complex data and regulatory requirements with a practical, problem-solving mindset. You are motivated by mission-driven work and want to play a direct role in supporting reliable power across the Western Interconnection.
Qualifications include:
- 3 – 5 years' experience in energy markets, resource adequacy, compliance, utility planning, settlements, or related analytical roles
- Foundational understanding of capacity planning, reliability metrics, and compliance frameworks
- Experience supporting analytical processes, data validation, and reporting activities
- Demonstrated ability to work with stakeholders and apply program rules or regulatory frameworks
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g. business intelligence and data refinement)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Energy Systems, Business, or related field
What You'll Do:
In this role, you will support the Western Resource Adequacy (WRAP) Forward Showing Program by analyzing data, reviewing compliance submissions, and working directly with WRAP Participants. You will validate forward showing and transmission data, perform capacity and deliverability analyses, and help ensure compliance with WRAP Tariff and Business Practice Manual requirements. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, resolve data issues with participants, and prepare clear, defensible analyses and reports for WRAP committees, leadership, and stakeholders, directly contributing to grid reliability across the West.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Review and validate WRAP Forward Showing submissions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Tariff and Business Practice Manual requirements
- Perform data validation and compliance analyses supporting capacity requirements, planning reserve margins, resource accreditation, and deliverability
- Review and validate transmission reservation data (e.g., OATI/OASIS) to support WRAP deliverability and compliance determinations
- Coordinate with WRAP participants and internal teams to clarify requirements, resolve data issues, and improve processes
- Prepare and communicate analytical results and reports for WRAP committees, leadership, and other stakeholders using tools such as Excel, Power BI, or other data analysis tools
