General Laborers

ZTEX Construction is a heavy civil contractor specializing in earthwork, concrete, asphalt paving, underground utilities, and overall project management.

A general laborer is an entry‑level position into the construction industry. General Laborers perform essential manual tasks, including cleaning, loading/unloading materials, and assisting skilled tradespeople in our construction projects. They operate hand/power tools and machinery to ensure project efficiency and safety.

• Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in concrete and job site preparation
• Shovel concrete into construction area
• Dig trenches, back‑fill trenches, set forms, level out dirt of job sites
• Perform set‑up and clean‑up at job sites
• Remove trees and shrubs to clear out job site
• Pour concrete and asphalt onto roads
• Operate and care for construction equipment and machines
• Remove, fill or compact earth
• Assist other craft workers with their duties
• Understand and follow directions

• 1+ yrs of previous work experience preferably in the construction industry.
• Must be able to follow instructions and comply with our Safety rules and Procedures.
• Ability to work hard, positive attitude and get along well with team.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written or oral instructions.

• Must work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements, heat/cold temperatures, wind, rain, blowing dust
• Able to work around moving equipment and tolerate loud noise levels
• Bend and stoop repeatedly throughout the day
• Able to push, pull and lift 50+lbs
• Able to walk and stand for long periods of time
• Able to walk on rough, rocky and uneven surfaces at construction sites

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre‑employment drug screening and physical screening. If applicable to the contract, you may also be required to submit through a background check. Must have reliable transportation to/from work and must have a valid driver's license at time of application.
