Job DetailsThe Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) will be responsible for implementing and administering the project s safety program in accordance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA regulations, and project-specific requirements. The SSHO will work closely with project management, field personnel, subcontractors, and government representatives to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
Responsibilities- Implement and enforce project safety policies and procedures
- Maintain compliance with EM 385-1-1 and OSHA regulations
- Conduct daily site safety inspections and audits
- Lead safety meetings, orientations, and toolbox talks
- Prepare, review, and manage Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs)
- Assist with Accident Prevention Plan (APP) implementation
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and corrective actions
- Maintain project safety documentation and reporting
- Coordinate with subcontractors regarding safety compliance
- Serve as primary safety liaison with USACE representatives
- 5+ years of federal construction SSHO experience
- EM 385-1-1 40-Hour Certification
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Experience supporting USACE, DoD, NAVFAC, AFCEC, or other federal projects
- Experience managing AHAs, APPs, safety audits, and incident investigations
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work full-time on-site in El Paso, TX
- USACE Construction Quality Management (CQM) Certification
- RMS/QCS experience
- Experience on civil, utility, pump station, water/wastewater, or heavy infrastructure projects
- Bilingual English/Spanish
