Position: Electrical Assistant Project Manager I (33678)

Position Summary

This position is responsible for assisting teams in the construction of projects and ensuring project quality, schedule, cost control, safety, and customer objectives are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides support to project managers for change orders, expediting logs, RFI logs, etc.
  • Performs cost control and financial management by working with preconstruction on project estimate and schedule
  • Coordinates scope of work
  • Prepares and reviews submittals
  • Reviews and compiles pay applications, change requests, and other project financial documentation
  • Partners with Project manager to craft client proposals and award subcontracts
  • Assists in contract administration and management
  • Assists in employee time and recordkeeping
  • Assists in coordinating work with project owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and site subcontractors
  • Participates in meetings to coordinate work and manage labor concerns
  • Prepares correspondence as needed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective completion of project
  • Develops and maintains resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
  • Secures material orders, assists superintendents with material orders
  • Ensures efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of department
Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • BSEE or Construction Management preferred; high school diploma required
  • 2+ years experience in electrical construction
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and leadership potential
  • Prior experience in electrical estimating, a plus
  • Electrician's license, a plus
  • Strong computer skills
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Proficient in Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, Bluebeam, Accubid, and scheduling software
  • Ability to perform accurate and organized take offs from contract documents
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
  • Proficient analytical, motivational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to use estimating software to define the cost of any work to be performed
  • Working knowledge of electrical parts and their intended use
  • Working knowledge of general construction
  • Demonstrated safety leader and true believer in safety
  • Current and valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Work Environment

Work may be inside or outside with possible exposure to extreme temperatures and weather elements in restricted or confined spaces, and on slippery or uneven surfaces. The role may involve working on ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and other typical heavy construction exposures. The job also operates in an office setting, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Demands
  • Traverse and inspect all areas of the jobsite in all types of weather; walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, standing, or stretching
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Move about on feet regularly; sit for extended periods of time
  • Sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time
  • May require travel
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers
  • Talk and hear; ability to communicate with others both written and orally and by telephone
  • Possess good vision and hearing; specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision to discern color coded wires, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest) as needed
  • Work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts as needed; on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite
  • Work in presence of customers and their representatives with minimal interference or disruption to the customer while maintaining a professional and courteous image
