Education and Experience: Completion of 30 hours of college credits in Engineering, Drafting Technology or a closely related physical science field or higher and at least two (2) years of construction or engineering related experience, OR a High School diploma or GED plus four (4) years of construction or engineering related experience.
Licenses and CertificatesInternational Code Council Commercial Building Inspector Certification within three (3) months of date of appointment (when required). Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state.
General PurposeUnder general supervision, conduct site inspections of all commercial, residential, or municipal infrastructure construction projects. Enforce compliance with construction documents, plans, specifications, ordinances, and regulations.
Typical Duties- Oversee and inspect municipal construction projects.
- Interpret plans and specifications for work under contract.
- Prepare technical records and reports.
- Maintain applicable database, records, and files.
- Research prior inspections for approvals or disapprovals to determine current status.
- Attend training and meetings.
- Testify in court and before City boards and commissions, as required.
Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and other City departments to ensure all appropriate permits for construction projects have been obtained, and resolve issues to minimize delays.
