Project ScopeThis role supports underground utility construction on a large-scale data center build in El Paso, TX. The Safety Manager will oversee all field safety activities associated with excavation, trenching, and underground utility installation, ensuring strict compliance with OSHA standards and site-specific safety plans.
The position requires a strong on-site presence and direct engagement with craft labor, supervisors, and subcontractors. The Safety Manager will proactively identify hazards, enforce corrective actions, and promote a safety-first culture in a fast-paced, high-production construction environment.
This is a long-term project with consistent work and extended hours, ideal for a safety professional experienced in civil and underground utility construction.
Qualifications- BCSP certification with a minimum of 5 years of experience
- Active OSHA 500 certification
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Ability to work extended hours and Saturdays
- Strong field presence on active construction sites
- Experience supporting underground utility or civil construction projects
- Enforce OSHA regulations and site-specific safety programs
- Conduct daily jobsite safety inspections and hazard assessments
- Lead toolbox talks and safety meetings in English and Spanish
- Monitor excavation, trenching, and underground utility operations
Identify, document, and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors - Investigate incidents, near misses, and implement corrective actions
- Coordinate with project management, superintendents, and subcontractors
- Maintain accurate safety documentation and reporting records
