Gregory Construction is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Project Manager to support our growing operations in El Paso, Texas and the surrounding region
.
Candidates located in or near El Paso are strongly preferred
, as this provides the most practical location for supporting our active and upcoming projects while reducing unnecessary travel for the Project Manager.
This role is ideal for a construction professional with hands‑on project management experience in underground utilities, earthwork, concrete, and site development who is comfortable leading complex civil projects from preconstruction through closeout.
Our work includes large-scale, mission‑critical projects such as data centers and major infrastructure developments
. We're looking for a Project Manager who understands how to manage the schedule, costs, contracts, people, and client relationships necessary to deliver these projects successfully.
As a Project Manager, you'll take ownership of heavy civil projects from planning through completion, working closely with field leadership, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
. - Oversee underground utility scopes including water, sewer, storm drainage, and duct banks
. - Manage earthwork, concrete, site development, and civil infrastructure scopes.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, cost forecasts, and risk management plans.
- Track project performance and proactively address schedule, cost, manpower, and constructability issues.
- Manage contracts, subcontractors, change orders, billing, cost reporting, and project documentation.
- Coordinate closely with Superintendents and field teams to keep projects moving safely and efficiently.
- Lead project meetings and provide clear updates to clients and company leadership.
- Coordinate with engineers, owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and follow-through.
- Maintain project quality while promoting a safety-first culture
. - Mentor Project Engineers and help develop members of the project team.
- Take ownership of project challenges and drive issues toward resolution.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of Project Management experience in heavy civil construction
. - Direct experience managing one or more of the following:
- Underground utilities
- Earthwork
- Concrete construction
- Civil infrastructure
- Site development
- Experience managing construction projects ranging from approximately $500K to $30M
. - Strong understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, change management, and contract administration
. - Experience with construction management and scheduling software such as Procore, Microsoft Project, or Primavera P6
. - Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both field and office teams.
- Ability and willingness to travel to active project sites as required.
- Strong sense of accountability and ability to take ownership of project results.
- Currently located in El Paso, Texas or within reasonable commuting distance.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
