Position Summary

Designs and produces deliverables for the Division of Student Affairs and the departments within the division.

Statement Of Duties And Responsibilities
  • Uses design software to create and modify layouts, design elements, and photography. Prepares designs and files for print and digital delivery
  • Supervises, recruits, hires, trains, and evaluates student employees within department, which may include graphic designers, photographers, and videographers. This includes, but is not limited to, providing creative critiques and overseeing their deliverables, professional development, and communications with clients
  • Collaborate with departments within the Division of Student Affairs, the Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs, and campus partners
  • Complies with the Identity Guide established by UTEP Marketing and Communications
  • Liaisons with UTEP Marketing and Communications for brand approvals on Division of Student Affairs deliverables
  • Generates and produces printed and electronic promotional and informational materials, including posters, brochures, newsletters, fliers, booklets, nametags, invitations, digital promotions, visual aids for reports, and other related deliverables
  • Requests quotes for printed materials, apparel, merchandise, and other related deliverables
  • Prepares presentations, illustrations, or rough sketches of material
  • Determines size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, selects style and size of type, and creates sample layouts
  • Acts as technical liaison; assists with technical issues of presentations; advises and troubleshoots information technology
  • Manages projects from concept to final deliverables
  • Reviews final layout, suggests improvements as needed, and presents final layout to supervisor or client for approval
  • Prepares final layout for print on paper, film, disk, or other electronic format. Checks proofs
  • Reviews the quality of final products before release to the client
  • Designs websites in partnership with the department web master
  • Maintains image resource files
  • Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software, and able to learn and use institutional software systems
  • Complies with all State and University policies
  • Other duties may be assigned

Required Qualifications
  • Education
    :
    Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university within area of assigned responsibility.
  • Experience
    :
    Two years of related experience to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
