Major/Essential Functions
* Supervises residents and medical students in a clinical setting
* Provides performance evaluations, skill testing, and mentoring of residents, fellows, and medical students
* Participates in resident and faculty recruitment
* Attends and participates in morbidity-mortality and journal clubs
* Provides patient care in the Emergency Department
* Serves as medical control physician for EI Paso EMS while on duty in the Emergency Department
* Participates in national emergency medicine societies such as ACEP, SAEM, AAEM
* Participates in medical research projects relating to emergency medicine
* Participates in medical school and hospital committees
* Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship
* Assists the Department Chair with the implementation of departmental policies and monitoring staffing effectiveness
* Participates in chart audits and other clinical performance improvement efforts
* Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance such as committee work, emergency medicine professional organizations, and other administrative duties
* Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
* Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission
* Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations
* Upholds and promotes the values-based culture of TTUHSC El Paso
* Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility

Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with education of residents and medical students
* Evidence of growth in clinical, teaching, and research activities related to the specialty
* ACLS/PALS/ATLS certifications
* Board Certification in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine for the rank of assistant professor or higher
* Established or emerging regional or national reputation for the rank of associate professor or higher
* Knowledge of Medical Spanish
