Overview

The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for a Lecturer position for CACREP-accredited Counseling Programs beginning in Spring/Summer 2026. The position is housed in the Department of Counseling and Special Education in the College of Education. The successful candidate(s) will be committed to excellence in teaching, service, and community engagement, and will collaborate across the university. Teaching assignments will be based on experience and expertise.

Teaching in summer is generally available.

El Paso, TX

Responsibilities
  • Oversee student site placements for practicum/internship.
  • Maintain active engagement with practicum/internship sites.
  • Supervise students' field experiences.
  • Teach graduate-level courses, including in-person, hybrid, and online formats.
  • Participate in college and departmental committee work, as well as professional and community service.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across programs and disciplines.
Qualifications
  • An earned master's degree in Counseling from a CACREP-approved program or a doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-approved program.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness in graduate-level courses.
  • Relevant experience in the field of Mental Health Counseling.
  • Evidence of the ability to work collaboratively with other faculty, professionals, and community organizations.
  • Commitment to maintenance of CACREP standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual.
  • Experience as a mental health or rehabilitation counselor.
  • Licensed as a Professional Counselor (board-approved supervisor) in Texas.
  • Ability and flexibility to teach both foundational and advanced Counseling courses.
