Reclaim Private School will provide educational services in partnership with the Upbring community that offers a multicultural, safe, and friendly environment in which students can successfully learn basic skills and core academic content using English as a Second Language (ESL) strategies. Students will develop and demonstrate individual talents and gifts, and develop social competencies that demonstrate citizenship and character.

The Teacher will help provide appropriate educational activities and experiences that will assist students in fulfilling their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth.

Skills:

* Working knowledge of characteristics of students with Emotional Disturbance, Attention Deficit Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Specific Learning Disabilities (including, but not limited to, Dyslexia)

* Working knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to special education.

* Working knowledge of learning styles and modalities, and ability to implement appropriate teaching strategies to meet individual student needs.

* Ability to effectively integrate technology into daily lesson plans.

* Ability to implement effective behavior management techniques.

* Ability to successfully complete required training involving hands-on management.

* Ability to provide for student safety at all times, including maintaining personal or specifically assigned (staff) line-of-sight supervision for every student.

* Exceptional communication, organization and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to effectively utilize and supervise paraprofessionals.

* Ability to work on multiple task simultaneously. shifting focus as needed.

* Ability to maintain complete confidentiality.

* Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

* Understanding of positive behavioral management techniques

* Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

* Ability to respectfully and effectively work with students, school staff, residential staff and visitors, regardless of gender. age disability or ethnicity

* Ability to maintain a current Texas driver's license, with excellent driving record

Responsibilities & Duties:

* Prepare daily lesson plans, including integration of technology, and submit to Principal weekly.

* Review, and be familiar with, IEPs and other student information for all assigned students

* Teach according to the standards of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), individualize to meet IEP requirements and students.

* Use formal and informal assessments, as well as student portfolios, to assess and document student progress.

* Maintain appropriate supervision of students and classroom staff.

* Use behavioral interventions to assist in maintaining

* Maintain records of student attendance and grades.

* Prepare and submit report cards and IEP progress reports in a timely manner

* Provide needed information and assist with the development of FBAs and BIPs.

* Maintain a neat, clean and orderly classroom.

* Present current student work, without last names, to the general education teacher for display in the classroom,

* Serve as a role model for students and classroom staff with regard to language, dress and behavior.

* Maintain current knowledge of, and abide by, all state regulations and TCS policies for teachers.

* Ensure necessary and reasonable measures are taken to protect equipment, materials and facilities.

* Work cooperatively with other TCS staff, parents, and surrogates, as needed.

* Enrich job skills through professional development activities

* Actively participate in faculty and/or staff meetings, and assist in school committees as needed

* Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:

* Maintain emotional control under stress

* Work with frequent interruptions

* Occasional district wide travel

* Frequent prolonged and irregular hours

* Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 25 pounds with assistance), reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, and kneeling may be required.

Education:

* Bachelors' degree from an accredited college or university (Preferred Master's)

* Texas ESL Certification.

* Minimum of one year's experience as a classroom teacher, working with ED and/or LD students preferred.
