Student Culinary Services (SCS) is a work‑based learning program staffed and managed entirely by students and overseen by a professional staff member of El Paso Community College to ensure the safety and sanitation of production and service of food. The SCS program will deliver culinary services via catering events or in the Dine ’N’ Dash Market to the college and to our community at competitive rates.
All student employees working in the SCS program will have the opportunity to practice the skills they are learning while taking classes in culinary arts programs and apply them in a real‑world environment. Student employees enjoy the benefits of professional development and empowerment through their participation in the SCS program. Students who excel at their work and exhibit initiative can be promoted to supervisory positions or other leadership roles.
The expectation of the SCS program is to create an environment that offers students experience that will provide them the opportunities to gain knowledge beyond the classroom and laboratory settings of the culinary arts programs. In addition, SCS strives to build confidence, leadership, and communication and time‑management skills, to name just a few, in both their personal and professional development.
In‑person work on campus is an essential function of this position.
