Position Summary
Statement of
Duties and Responsibilities:
Market-Style Pantry Operations and Program Management
* Directs and manages the daily operations of the Campus Market-Style Pantry, including inventory control, ordering, storage, distribution, scheduling, and site operations.
* Coordinates and oversees on campus mobile pantry food distribution events.
* Develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates Market-Style Pantry programs, services, and special distributions designed to reduce food insecurity among students.
* Ensures compliance with food handling regulations, donor requirements, grant-funded program requirements, record retention standards, and risk management practices.
* Oversees the maintenance, organization, safety, and functionality of pantry facilities, equipment, refrigeration units, storage areas, and related resources.
* Establishes operational procedures, service guidelines, and assessment measures to ensure efficient, equitable, and dignified service delivery.
* Develops and implements communication and outreach strategies to increase awareness, engagement, and utilization of pantry services.
Student Services and Outreach
* Provides direct and indirect support to students experiencing food insecurity through needs assessment, resource navigation, referrals, follow-up and as appropriate.
* Coordinates services with campus partners (e.g., financial aid, counseling and psychological services, housing, and wellness services) to support student retention and success.
* Develops and delivers education, outreach, and training to students, staff, and faculty regarding food insecurity, pantry services, and available resources.
Administrative, Fiscal, and Data Management
* Administers assigned pantry funding and gift accounts; tracks expenditures, monitors spending trends, and provides recommendations regarding resource allocation to support operational priorities and student needs.
* Develops and implements food procurement strategies, including food bank partnerships, food recovery initiatives, donor engagement, retail partnerships, and purchasing plans to ensure a consistent and nutritious food supply.
* Develops and maintains outcome measures, performance indicators, and assessment plans for pantry operations and basic needs initiatives.
* Prepares reports, presentations, and program evaluations for university leadership, grant funders, donors, and community partners.
* Identifies opportunities for program enhancement through assessment findings, stakeholder feedback, and emerging best practices.
Supervision, Training, and Volunteer Coordination
* Supervises professional staff, student employees, interns, and volunteers supporting pantry operations.
* Recruits, trains, schedules, and evaluates student workers and volunteers to ensure consistent service coverage and adherence to standards.
* Provides leadership, coaching, professional development, and performance management for assigned staff and student employees.
* Establishes team goals, operational priorities, and performance expectations aligned with departmental and university objectives.
Development, Grants, and Community Partnerships
* Collaborates with University leadership on program development, grant initiatives, fundraising efforts, and donor engagement to enhance Market-Style Pantry services.
* Builds and maintains partnerships with local food banks, community organizations, and regional resources to expand access and support.
* Represents the University on committees, coalitions, and community initiatives related to basic needs, food security, and student wellbeing.
Institutional Leadership and Collaboration
* Leads strategic planning efforts related to food security and basic needs support, utilizing data, student feedback, and emerging best practices to guide program growth and enhance student success outcomes.
* Participates in divisional and university-wide committees, trainings, and professional development activities.
* Complies with all State of Texas and University policies and procedures.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
